Roadrunner Enrichment Programs

Roadrunner Ambassadors - RA's (student leadership program)

This group of middle and high school students welcome new students to campus, introduce them around, provide assistance in answering any questions, and team up to provide a guy and a girl buddy for the new student to have lunch with, walk in the halls with, etc. The high school RA's also provide assembly's on bully prevention to middle and upper elementary students once per semester. This group runs the full school year.

Toolkits for Transition - TFT (HS transition planning)

The group works with 9-11th graders to begin the process of planning for adult living after high school. The focus is on career and job search. Students learn about independent living topics such as budgeting, voting, job interview skills, job search skills, resume writing, public transportation, etc. We also have transition activities in which students have the opportunity to visit various colleges, trade schools, and attend an on campus mini career fair with approximately 15 representatives from various agencies/colleges. This group runs the full school year.

Senior Institute (12th grade transition planning)

This group is like TFT but ramped up for graduation. Students continue to add to their senior portfolio and focus on getting plans in place for after graduation. Referrals to Voc Rehab assist the students following graduation with transition planning. Students will leave this program and our school with a binder filled with resources and next steps based on their individual goals as they transition into adulthood. This group runs the full school year.

Student-led IEP’s

This program assists students in having a voice in their education by providing them with the tools necessary to lead their IEP meeting. We focus on goal setting, career exploration, skill development, and confidence building. Students find they have more of a voice in the direction of their education when they participate in this program and when they own it, they are more likely to work for it.

Girls Group

Our Roadrunner girls are surrounded by boys all day in most classes so once a week, we get together to talk about girl things - like how to be a good friend. This group runs the full year.

AZ Student Roadrunners (mentor marathon program)

For several years, Roadrunner ran a group assisting students training for the PF Chang's Half Marathon. Volunteer teachers, staff, and students mentored and trained 3 days a week, including Saturday mornings, preparing to run the final race of 13.1 miles. To date, 23 students and staff completed at least one half marathon, some, more than one. Currently, the program is on hold until more volunteer mentors are available to participate in the program.
